Twists And Turns Of Life
We are displayed with such beauty
as we begin this life.
Pain and wounds have not yet mangled
the beginning of our time.
The innocence of existence
shines through so pure
with a display of vibrant colors
flickering with a dance of passion
for life that is brand new.
After a time, though,
the twists and turns begin
and we become unrecognizable,
through strange entanglements.
Entwined and knotted with rejections,
coiled and bent with tears -
obsessions, and fears mar our innocent beauty
we once had so revered.
Hands cover our face
as we desperately cry out for help,
only to realize
that the darkest of nights
can bring us back
to the beauty of ourselves again.

I love the last stanza of this poem. There is calm on the horizon!

Sandy, I took those pictures this past weekend while in San Antonio. The contrast was so startling obvious to me and I knew right away, I had to write a poem to it.
