Cycles of Life

Photograph by: Ryan Eng

At the heart of our loss is gain
Unseen, and yet eternal.
At the heart of our gain is loss
Through too much knowing.
At the heart of our joys are mysteries
That remain untold.
At the heart of our tears is wisdom
Embracing the cycles of life-
Thus, finding stillness and peace within.

  4. Thank you my dear Kal! I love your phrase “truth wrapped in scripted beauty.” You know at our Toastmasters meetings they look out for beautiful and unique phrases. I will keep this one in mind. Very nice! I bet you could write some nice poetry yourself since you have such a gentle and kind soul.

  5. This is a lovely poem and a very helpful meditation, Viola. “Too much knowing.” I was reading yesterday that the way to grow close to God is to give up on the idea of knowing anything, let alone everything. This poem takes me further into understanding that thought.

  6. You are so right, Sandy. The moment we think we have it all figured out, life shows us differently. I am glad for that.
