Jan Werner
Jan Werner was an immensely gifted Norwegian singer, famous for his powerful voice. He died all too early when he was found by his manager in his apartment. Autopsy revealed that he died of heart failure at the age of 30.
I saw this at Siggy’s site today and it moved me to tears. I wanted to share it with you. It is truly an exquisite piece!!!
Kal, one of my blogger friends informed me that this piece is called, “Gabriella’s Oboe” composed by Ennio Morricone. Thank you, Kal!
Some things are simply too beautiful for words.

This has always been one of my favorite pieces. The first time I heard it was in the movie “The Mission” – a film about a jesuit missionary in South America in the 18th century. This music is playing in a scene where a man is strapped to a wooden cross and floated down the river and eventually falls a spectacularly powerful waterfall. The waterfalls scenes are amazing.
Incredibly moving.

and actually, I heard it as well performed by the Turtle Creek Chorale with live orchestra at the Meyerson Symphony Center here in Dallas. 250 men’s voices added so much power and impact to this piece.

Lol! Fantastic! I have seen the movie “The Mission” but I am going to watch it again now that I am aware of this. I can only imagine how powerful and beautiful that song must have been with 250 men’s voices singing it. I would have loved to been there.
Thanks for telling me the name of this piece. I need to get this downloaded. I found myself listening to it over and over again this morning. My heart was filled by this today. Truly an exquisite piece of art!
